LET’S GIVE YOUR SEA-DOO THE TLC IT NEEDS

Has your Sea-Doo been tucked away for the Winter? We know during those cooler months we tend to neglect our watercraft but it’s actually the best time to give your ride the love and maintenance it needs! We’re here to help give you and your Sea-Doo the best lives in and out of the water, all year round.

We recommend having the XPS Boat/PWC Cleaning and Detailing Kit on hand.

LET’S GIVE YOUR SEA-DOO THE TLC IT NEEDS

The exterior of your Sea-Doo may be pristine but let’s not forget about the internal components. Preparing your Sea-Doo is imperative during cooler weather and failure to do so could result in gummed-up fuel systems, battery failure, and damage to vital internal parts.

If you’re looking for a 5-star service be sure to reach out to us on 03 688 7517 or click here to book a service. We only use genuine BRP products and stay up to date with the latest recommended products, procedures, and technical updates for all our Sea-Doos. If you're wanting to give it a go yourself, here are our recommended steps.

1. Clean and Inspect Jet Pump
  • Check for visible signs of excessive wear and spray water to remove any debris that remains from your last ride. Applying a coat of XPS Anti-Corrosive Lubricant to each area is also a good idea! To inspect the jet pump, remove the impeller cover to verify no water has collected.
2. Stabilise the Fuel System
  • To prevent build-up, add the XPS fuel stabilizer to ensure your fuel, and fuel system remains in good condition. Fill the tank completely with fresh fuel and check over the fuel delivery system for leaks.
3. Replace Engine Oil and Filter

4. Flush and Drain Exhaust System
  • To flush the exhaust system, hook a garden hose up to the connector located at the rear (port side of the stern) of the watercraft. DO NOT OPEN THE WATER TAP YET! Start the engine and then immediately open the water tap. Run the engine for 90 seconds and ensure water flows out of the pump. Next, shut the water off and continue to run the engine at 5000 RPM for 5 seconds, then shut the engine down.
  • Drying out the exhaust system is critical in cold weather areas. To do this, blow compressed air at 55 PSI (379 kPa) into the flushing connector the hose was attached to until no water flows out of the jet pump. This will ensure all water has been removed from the watercraft’s exhaust system
5. Internal Engine Lubrication (Fogging)
  • Here’s where things vary a bit depending on your model. For SPARK owners, you’ll need to remove the central body in order to access the engine. It’s a few bolts and the process is outlined in your owner’s manual. For other models, the engine can be accessed by removing the seat. Once you have access to the engine, remove the ignition coils and spark plugs. Spray XPS Anti-Corrosive Lubricant (or equivalent) into the spark plug holes.
  • Next, you’ll want to crank the engine. To do this, fully depress the throttle lever and hold it against the handlebar. This will disable fuel delivery and ignition during engine cranking. While you hold the throttle, press the start/stop button to crank the engine a few times. This will help distribute the anti-corrosive lubricant to the cylinder walls. Finally, apply a small amount of XPS Anti-Corrosive Lubricant to your spark plug threads and reinstall them and the ignition coils.
6. Hull and Body Cleaning
  • With all mechanical maintenance complete, it’s also important to make sure your Sea-Doo is looking top-notch for your next adventure! You’ll want to use the appropriate XPS cleaning products for your model, that are specially engineered to remove grime, stains, and any marine organisms.
