Another big year has passed which means the Watercraft Journal has revealed their top watercrafts of the year. If you’re not familiar, the Watercraft Journal is the industry's leading resource for watercraft news, reviews and coverage of watercraft events. We’re proud to say that the 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro 170 was selected as second runner up and the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 was crowned as the winner!

The eligible watercrafts were judged using the IDEA scale, an acronym which stands for Innovation, Design, Execution and Affect. Each category could score up to 10 points, totaling a combined 40 possible points. How did the 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro 170 and the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 perform? Keep reading!

The FISH PRO managed to land as 2021 Watercraft of The Year 2nd Runner-Up with a total of 34 points (Innovation: 8; Design: 8; Execution: 8; Affect: 10).  

Making its way up to the top 3, the 2021 FISH PRO 170 was praised for its new and improved features including the Garmin Echomap plus 62cv Fish Finder, adjustable Trolling Mode, 13.5 gallon cooler, configurable slots for rod holders, and new LinQ cup holder. The Fish Pro also scored points for two of its major innovations: Intelligent Debris Free System (IDF) and the optional 7.8-Inch Panoramic Bluetooth Colour Display. With the brand new, high-resolution display connecting to the Sea-Doo BRP GO! App, it displays GPS tracking, live weather updates, and vehicle vitals with ease. Judges also loved that the IDF removed any clogging and debris with a simple press of a button.

We’re proud to say that the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 has been crowned as the Watercraft Journal’s 2021 Watercraft of the year. With a total of 36 points, this model triumphed against all other contenders (Innovation: 9; Design: 10; Execution: 9; Affect: 8).

“Admittedly, we’re having more fun with the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 than we ever expected to be – and for all of the wrong reasons. For 2021, Sea-Doo chose to improve upon the existing T3-based RXP-X platform rather than discard it completely. The result was the T3R, which made a purported 30 changes to the running surface, particularly surrounding the pump intake and the now-infamous “shark gills” running along its midships.”

The improved Ergolock-R high-backed adjustable seat, X-series handlebars, and resculpted knee covers enable a more comfortable riding experience. Above all, the 2021 model is 67 pounds lighter than previous generations. One surprise that the judges loved was the polished 3-blade impeller, effectively making the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X RS 300 "the most race-ready 4-stroke we’ve seen from Sea-Doo since the 2008 RXP-X 255" and the perfect fit for long-distance cruising.

The Watercraft Journal praised the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 as, “No longer the stripped-down, bare-bones hot rod of its youth, the RXP-X has matured into European luxury supercar. And with that, wholly deserves the 2021 Watercraft of The Year Award.”
